Over 40 years of integrative medicine. A lifetime spent listening to the body rather than overriding it. The physician behind every Life Source formula.

Dr. Russell Cooper
The Beginning

A father's example.
A lifelong calling.

Dr. Russell Cooper's path into medicine was shaped by the influence of his father, a beloved and stalwart figure in their community, known as everyone's favourite GP. From a young age, Dr. Cooper saw firsthand the profound impact his father had on those around him, inspiring him to follow in his footsteps and pursue a career dedicated to helping others.

Not just by treating symptoms, but by listening, investigating deeply, and restoring the body's balance through methods that support rather than override its natural intelligence. That philosophy has never left him.

"True healing does not rush. It restores."

Education and Early Career

Built on rigour.
Shaped by the world.

Dr. Cooper earned his MBBCh at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1981, before beginning his career as a senior medical officer across multiple disciplines in South Africa and England. In 1987, he became Registrar in Accident and Emergency Medicine at Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania, Australia.

The following year, he made a decisive shift. He transitioned into full-time integrative medicine, establishing one of Australia's earliest holistic practices in Hobart, Tasmania. In 1993, he founded the Anubha Mountain Health Retreat in the tranquil foothills of Mt. Wellington, a sanctuary that continues to serve patients seeking deep, integrative healing to this day.

In 2013, he completed a two-year post-graduate programme and was awarded a Master of Science in Preventive Medicine, Anti-Ageing Medicine and Regenerative Medicine from Dresden International University.

Areas of Mastery

Where science meets
the whole person.

Dr. Cooper is globally recognised for his pioneering work in Anti-Ageing and Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy. He built Tasmania's largest BHRT practice, running a comprehensive programme for both male and female hormonal decline, with advanced testing protocols and international collaboration.

He was among the first physicians in Australia to introduce genetic testing for polymorphisms, transforming how conditions like cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, menopause and metabolic syndrome are diagnosed and treated. His early adoption of Nutrigenomics and Pharmacogenomics has helped shape the future of personalised, gene-informed medicine across Australasia.

Life Source

When medicine
became personal.

Dr. Cooper's expertise took a deeply personal turn when his niece, Lalla, came to him struggling with PCOS. He had spent decades treating hormonal and metabolic conditions in women. He knew there were answers. He also knew how difficult and expensive those answers were to access in South Africa.

Together they founded Life Source, built on a simple conviction: that every woman deserves access to the same clinical precision that had already changed lives in his practice. The Life Source formula is the only PCOS supplement in South Africa supported by a full medical white paper written by its own formulator, setting out the clinical rationale, research evidence and patient outcomes behind every ingredient.

"He did not create this because it was profitable. He created it because his niece needed it, and because he knew hundreds of other women deserved the same."

Beyond the Clinic

A man who has always
chosen the summit.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Cooper is an accomplished mountaineer. He has summited peaks in the United States, South Africa, the Alps and the Himalayas. These climbs are not separate from his medical life. They are an expression of the same values that define it: discipline, resilience, patience and a deep respect for the limits and potential of the human body.
